From the day they are born to the day they are adopted, each and every puppy becomes a loving part of our family.
We use temperament testing to understand our pups on a deeper level. This fun process reveals each puppy’s unique traits—whether they’re curious explorers or snuggle bugs —so we can guide you to a perfect match.
We invest countless hours of time and energy in them, because we believe it truly makes a difference in the quality of dog your puppy grows up to become.
By providing a highly nutritious diet and routines, along with extensive genetic testing of our parent dogs, we ensure your puppy gets the best possible start.
At The Little Retriever Ranch, we believe every puppy deserves the best start in life, so we raise our Miniature Golden Retriever puppies with all the love, care, and early development training they can handle! Between our homes in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles Counties, our pups enjoy ample space to explore the great outdoors.
At The Little Retriever Ranch, we believe every day should be an adventure, especially for our puppies! That’s why we introduce our Mini Golden Retrievers to all sorts of new sights, sounds, and textures from an early age.
From wobbly toys to crinkly bags and even the sound of a vacuum cleaner (gasp!), we make sure they get plenty of positive experiences with novel things. Getting our pups to interact with different stimuli is all about building their confidence and curiosity, so they grow up fearless, fun-loving, and ready to take on the world with you regardless of what life throws at them — whether it’s a car ride to a new and unfamiliar place, a new squeaky toy or their first big walk in the park!
Puppy handling is an essential part of raising confident, well-socialized mini golden retrievers. From day one, our puppies are gently introduced to human touch, ensuring they become comfortable with being handled in a variety of ways.
Whether it’s being cradled, having their paws touched, or getting used to basic grooming practices like brushing and nail trimming, we make sure each puppy experiences positive and gentle interactions. This hands-on approach helps build trust, reduces anxiety, and prepares them for future vet visits, grooming appointments, and plenty of cuddles with their new families. By the time our puppies leave for their forever homes, they’re comfortable with being handled and are ready to bond with their new humans!
We go above and beyond to ensure our Mini Golden Retriever puppies get the best start, and that begins with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS). Designed to develop well-rounded, confident, and adaptable pups, ENS involves a series of gentle exercises during the crucial early stages of a puppy’s life, from day 3 to day 16. These brief but impactful activities include tactile stimulation, head positioning, and environmental exposure, helping to boost their neurological development, improve cardiovascular health, and strengthen their immune system.
Through this process, our pups learn to handle stress, adapt to new situations, and build resilience early on. ENS also enhances their problem-solving abilities and promotes a calm, well-balanced temperament.
At LRR, we set our Mini Golden Retriever puppies up for potty training success right from the start! We use a combination of consistent routines and positive reinforcement to make the process fun and stress-free.
Our pups have plenty of opportunities to learn where to go by taking them outside regularly and rewarding them with treats and praise for their successes. We also introduce them to designated potty areas, so they start to recognize the right spots. This early training helps them build good habits, making the transition to their new homes smooth and ensuring they feel confident about their potty skills!
We believe introducing our puppies to crate training before they head to their forever homes is the key to a smooth transition for both puppy and parent. By spending time in their crates while traveling to appointments and enjoying quiet time each day, our pups learn that their crate is a safe and cozy space. We use positive reinforcement techniques to create positive associations, ensuring that the crate becomes a beloved sanctuary.
This familiarity makes the transition to a new home much easier, as they already have a comfortable retreat where they feel secure. This early exposure not only aids in house training but also teaches them how to feel at ease when separated from their humans. By the time they’re ready for you, our puppies are well-acquainted with crate life, making the adjustment smoother for both them and their new families!
At The Little Retriever Ranch, we believe grooming is a key part of keeping our mini golden retrievers happy and healthy, so we make sure they get plenty of exposure to it from an early age!
Our pups enjoy baths and brushing to turn grooming into a fun bonding experience. We also gently handle their paws, ears, and mouths, which prepares them for common grooming and veterinary practices like ear checks, tooth cleaning, and nail trimming. This early grooming exposure helps them feel comfortable and confident, ensuring they’re ready for their future spa days and check-ups with their new families, so they’re always looking and feeling their best!
We provide lifetime support, including an invitation to our LRR Puppy Family FB group, where you can connect with fellow puppy owners, join meetups, and have direct access to our team for any questions you may have!
Each puppy goes home with a goody bag that includes a puppy file with important information, a soft and chew toy, a blanket with mamas scent, a starter collar and leash, training pads, and product samples!
